Thangka

A thangka is a painting on cotton, or silk appliqué, usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala of some sort. This piece was inspired by the gorgeous thangkas I saw in Kathmandu.

Wall hanging. Inset photo by Kya Kim. Cotton and satin.

Private collection.
